Mark Hecht and Dan Chalk started the Springboro Destroyers as a 10-U team playing in the Dayton Metro Baseball Association in 2004.
The next year Chris Hinkel started another 10-U team playing at Dalco Field as the 11-U Destroyers went on
to win the DMBA 29-team season ending tournament.
In 2006, Dan Chalk started the third generation Destroyer team and played in
the 9-U division. The DMBA also officially changed names and became the
Midwest Ohio Baseball League (MOBL).
2007 saw the addition of two new Destroyer teams. Mark Hecht turned over the reins of the 13-U team to Scott Grissinger and started a 9-U team. Skip Leuthke created an 11-U team. The 12-U team competed in the Hall of Fame Classic in Cooperstown, NY.
In 2008 additional Destroyer expansion as Shane Hardy added a
9-U team to the mix and a second 10-U team was also formed with Steve Wenzel at the helm. In 2009, the Springboro Destroyers organization will have
5 teams competing in the MOBL.
